原文语境
Bangkok is accustomed to absorbing sudden afternoon downpours that routinely inundate the metropolis during the rainy season. However, every city has its breaking point. This year, precipitation fell so rapidly and persistently that vast neighbourhoods were transformed into stagnant lakes. Around 300mm of rain descended in merely two days, claiming approximately 40 lives through drowning and accidental electrocution. As ground-level waters rose to waist height, thousands were forced to evacuate to emergency shelters, exposing how severely urban infrastructure had been overwhelmed.
