Another feature of the New Right is a type of cultural politics aimed at ensuring the continuity of the historical culture of the national community. A universal feature of New Right politics is anti-wokeness, which represents opposition to the identity politics strongly associated with the left. In this version of identity politics, real identities are derived from things that cannot be chosen, such as genetic inheritance and biological nature. Furthermore, there is a damning view of people who work in the machinery of government. This extended public apparatus is seen as a self-interested class with its own agenda. This enemy class is the professional-managerial class, whose access depends on academic attainment. While entrepreneurs are admired, there is deep hostility toward senior managers, lawyers, and specific sectors, notably finance and private equity.
